AMI Multi-Client Study - A review of plastics processing in the GCC

Report title: A review of plastics processing in the GCC

Date of publication: 2009

Overview: An unprecedented growth in the production of polymer is underway in the GCC which is well documented, but to date what has been far from clear is the extent to which plastics are converted locally. This new report focuses on plastics conversion in the GCC, prospects, plans, incentives and constraints looking forward to 2012.

This report quantifies the conversion of thermoplastic polymers for 2007 using a variety of segmentations (country, end-use application, polymer, conversion process) and forecasts volumes through to 2012. It discusses domestic demand drivers and the potential for convertors to access international export markets. Forecasts are based on GDP growth of 3-4% and a realistic assessment of the availability of funding.

A strong emphasis of the report is to provide insight into the major convertors in the region. The report identifies and quantifies throughput at 50 of the largest convertors and discusses their development plans and strategies. AMI’s ability to model the conversion industry provides unparalleled insight into the structure of the conversion industry. The focus of the report is primary polymer conversion (e.g. moulding), but downstream activity where relevant is also reviewed.

AMI Consulting considers this study to be the first authoritative pan-GCC review of the plastics processing market.

Product scope: Thermoplastic polymers (primarily PE, PP, PVC, PS and PET).

Market scope: Primary conversion of thermoplastics (including injection moulding, blow moulding, film and sheet extrusion, pipe and profile extrusion, cable extrusion, textile extrusion etc.) segmented by end-use application.

Geographic scope: The GCC (that is to say Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain)

Price: The price for the report is EUR 5000. The fee includes two printed copies of the report and a pdf version on CD.
